Eligibility

Scholarships are awarded to Texas residents based on a candidate's academic performance, financial need, readiness and commitment to study, plus other consideration.

To qualify you must:

• Be a graduating high school senior, current college student, or graduate student

• Be a Texas resident and at least 17 years of age

• Have a minimum 3.3 GPA or equivalent

• Be accepted and committed to attend, or enrolled in, a U.S. accredited state or nonprofit college or university

Applicants are permitted to be Texas residents that are accepted and committed to attend, or are attending, U.S. accredited state or nonprofit colleges or university located anywhere within the United States.

Registrant may only register once in an academic year (defined as August - July).

Scholarships are subject to the terms and conditions.

How Does It Work? - Its simple!

• Register - To apply, complete an application and submission packet, and submit your application and upload all required documents identified below.

• Interview - Depending on the applications received, we may invite selected finalists for a personal online interview to make final selections.

• Awards - Winning applicants will generally receive a notification within two to six weeks following the calendar month that their application is considered. All funds will be disbursed directly to your Eligible School.

PLEASE NOTE: THE PROCESS WILL BE EASIER IF YOU HAVE ALL OF THE REQUIRED INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION READY TO SUBMIT BEFORE YOU BEGIN. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SAVE YOUR WORK TO RETURN AT A LATER TIME; HOWEVER, A LINK WILL BE PROVIDED THAT YOU WILL NEED TO SAVE IN ORDER TO RETURN TO YOUR APPLICATION. IF YOU DO NOT SAVE THE LINK, YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER.

B. Documentation. You will need to upload the following:

1. PERSONAL LETTER FROM REGISTRANT

Write a letter directed to The Brazos Education Foundation describing your career and educational goals, and how you intend to reach those goals. Describe the qualities you have developed that will help you succeed in obtaining your goals. Tell us what obstacles you have faced in the past and how you have overcome them.

• Typewritten

• No more than 2 pages

• Double-spaced

• 12 point font

2. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY AND ACTIVITY SHEET

Please list your employment history, activities and community service that you have been involved in during high school, college or graduate school.

This may be a resume or a simple list.

3. ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT

Please include a recent copy of your Transcript (for a graduating high school senior, please include your high school transcript; for a current college student, please include your college transcript and for a graduate student, please include your graduate school transcript).

(Note, “unofficial” transcripts are accepted)

Ensure that your first and last name are on every document you submit.

NOTE: Scholarship funds will be disbursed directly to your eligible school you are or will be attending. As such, if you are selected as a winner, you will be required to contact your college to get proof of enrollment, your student id number, and your college’s payment instructions as to where scholarship funds should be sent. If chosen as a winner, you will receive an email with instructions as to how and when to provide this information and documentation.
